The Pine Street Paddle has been hosted by Riverside Kayak Connection for 14 years. The weekly Wednesday night group paddle on the Detroit River from Wyandotte’s Pine Street Put In. The route is dependent on the group and conditions, but typically will go around International Wildlife Refuge’s Grassy Island. Recommended for paddlers with some experience.
Pine Street Paddle (Group Paddle)
Paddling Time: Average 2 hours.
Route Classification: Prior paddling experience and general fitness encouraged. The Pine Street Paddlers will typically start tgoether and then break into a faster group and a slower group. There will be a crossing of the Detroit River and for safety each group will cross together.
Route: The Pine Street Paddle leaves from the Wyandotte Pine Street Put In. A typical route is around the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge’s Grassy Island, upstream of the launch. Requirements: All paddlers must have a life jacket on and zipped for the duration of the paddle. We do not allow alcoholic beverages and we will not allow anyone under the influence to paddle. These requirements are for your safety and the safety of the group.
Minimum Age: 18 years old.
Location: The Pine Street Put In is at the end of Pine Street off of Biddle Avenue (West Jefferson Avenue) in Wyandotte. The launch consists of a short wooden stairway leading down to a floating dock. Fellow paddlers are there to assist with launching. Directions to Pine Street Put In.
Parking: Kayaks may be unloaded at the end of Pine Street. After unloading, of if you are renting a kayak, parking is available along Pine Street. Please do not park in Portofino’s parking lo. If there are no spaces on Pine Street you may park in the Portotino’s out lot or at the Wyandotte Shores Golf Course parking lot.
Restrooms: We recommend stopping before you get to the Wyandotte Pine Street Put In. There are public restrooms at the Wyandotte Shores Golf Course just south of Pine Street.
Free With Your Own Kayak – We require personal kayaks to be at least 12′ long and have double bulk-heads or be a sit-on-top.
Registration: All of our tours require pre-registration. Our tours frequently fill up so register early.
Cancellation Policy: If for any reason you have to cancel your reservation or change the date of your booking, please call at least 48 hours prior to the tour for a full refund.
Post Paddle Dinner: After the paddle, join fellow paddlers to go out to dinner and to talk about your latest adventure! (You are on your own for the cost of dinner.)

We will not have an official paddle Wednesday, July 4th and the Wednesday of the Wyandotte Street Art Fair, July 11th, due to road closures and limited parking
There may be an unofficial paddle the Wednesdays before May 16th and after September 5th as well as July 4th and July 11th. RKC will not have rentals or staff available on the unofficial paddles.
