2:00 p.m. or
Sunday, June 24, 2018
10:00 a.m.

The tour out to Turnip Rock (only accessible by water) is a great beginner to intermediate kayak destination. Paddle along the mostly undeveloped coastline to Thumbnail Point, the extreme tip of Michigan's Thumb.  Then paddle around one of the most famous kayak destinations in Michigan,Turnip Rock, and onto Alaska Bay.  The land around Turnip Rock is private so there will not be an opportunity to get out of your kayak.  Remember to bring your waterproof camera for the great photo opportunities.

Sunset Tour
Friday, June 22, 2018
8:30 p.m.

End the first day of Symposium with a relaxed tour on Lake Huron to watch the sunset.  Lights are required for this tour and may be purchased at the RKC II Go trailer Friday afternoon.

If you don't feel like paddling join us for a bonfire and watch the paddlers and the sun-setting over Lake Huron.

Grindstone City Tour
June 23, 2018
8:30 a.m.

Paddlers and guides will meet Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the paddle and shuttling.  Please let us know if you are not able to make it to the Friday evening meeting but would like to participate in the paddle.  Saturday morning paddlers and kayaks will be shuttled to the launch at Grindstone City.  The route back to Port Austin will include Turnip Rock, Thumbnail Point, Alaska Bay, cliffs/caves, grind stones, and depending on conditions the Port Austin Lighthouse. Much of the paddling will be as much as a mile from the shallow rocky shoreline, and spots to take breaks will be few to none. The actual route will depend on conditions and may include some rough water, possibly surfing.
