Paddle to Hell (And Back)

Join Riverside Kayak Connection and Friends for our annual Paddle to Hell (And Back).  We will paddle from Pinckney Recreation Center (Bruin Lake Campground) on the first Saturday of October to Hell.

Several kayakers will stay at Bruin Lake Campground, Friday, October 5 – Sunday, October 7, 2018.  There will be a pot luck and campfire Saturday evening.  Reservations for camp sites.

Join Riverside Kayak Connection and Friends for our annual Paddle to Hell (And Back).  We will paddle from Pinckney Recreation Center (Bruin Lake Campground) on the first Saturday of October to Hell!

Several kayakers will stay at Bruin Lake Campground, Friday, October 5 – Sunday, October 7, 2018.  There will be a pot luck and campfire Saturday evening.  Reservations for camp sites.

Paddle to Hell (And Back)

Paddling Time:  3 Hours.  Total event time 5 hours.

Route Classification:   Beginner Paddle – The paddle is 3.5 miles each way in typically calm water but it can be very windy.

Route:  Paddle from Bruin Lake  State Campground (launch from the boat ramp) thru Halfmoon and Hi-Land Lakes to Hell.  We will get out at the dam at Hell and have lunch (on your own) at one of teh local establishments.  After lunch we will paddle back to the Bruin Lakes State Campground. 

Requirements:    All paddlers must have a life jacket on and zipped for the duration of the paddle.  We do not allow alcoholic beverages and we will not allow anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol to paddle.  These requirements are for your safety and the safety of the group. 

Minimum Age:  8 years old. 8 – 18 year olds must be accompanied by an adult while on the water.

Parking:  Parking is available at the top of the drive to the Bruin Lake Campground boat launch on the right hand side.  If you have your own kayak please drop your kayak off near the boat ramp and park your vehicle to leave room for other boaters to use the ramp.  Only vehicles with trailers are allowed to park in the parking lot near the boat ramp.  

Bruin Lake Campground:  The State of Michigan requires a Recreation Passport for vehicles entering a State Park.

Restrooms:  The restrooms are located in the center of the campground.

Cost:   $40 Per Person For Kayak Rental  – All Riverside Kayak Connection kayaks for tours are single sit-inside kayaks.  When registering please provide your height and weight so that we bring an appropriate kayak.  

Free With Your Own Kayak  – All kayaks and canoes are welcome on the Paddle to Hell (And Back).

Registration:  All of our tours require pre-registration.  Our tours frequently fill up so register early. 

Cancellation Policy:  If for any reason you have to cancel your reservation or change the date of your booking, please call at least 48 hours prior to the tour for a full refund.

Lunch:  In 2015, 2016, and 2017 the group has eaten lunch at the Hell Hole Diner. The Hell Hole Diner charges a fee for credit cards so we recommend bringing cash.  After lunch we stop by Screams for an ice cream cone and to buy souvenirs.   Hell Hole Diner Menu
