Belle Isle Blue Heron Lagoon Tour is a beginner friendly kayak tour on the East end of the island. Highlights of the tour include the William Livingstone Memorial Lighthouse, the Detroit Yacht Club and the Detroit Waterworks Water Intake. In addition to the historic structures the tour showcases the nature of Blue Heron Lagoon. As a result of the Friends of the Detroit River 2013 project to open the Blue Heron Lagoon to the Detroit River, there is improved fish habitat for reproduction and rearing.
