Riverside Kayak Connection Demo Days are a great opportunity to try out kayaking and learn which kayak is designed for different bodies of water.  The knowledgeable staff and volunteers of RKC will answer questions and guide you through the kayak selection process.  Kayaks, life jackets and paddles will be provided.  Participants should dress for the possibility of getting wet.  Participants are welcome to paddle the entire time, but are asked to keep the time to 10 minutes per kayak to allow others a chance to paddle different models.  The various styles of kayaks available for a test drive includes sit-on-tops, recreational, fishing, and touring.

Requirements:   All participants must register at the on-site tent, sign a waiver and wear a life jacket while on the water.

Minimum Age:  Children between the ages of 12 and 18 are welcome to paddle, but must have a parent or guardian present on the water.  Riverside Kayak Connection reserves the right to raise the age limit based on water and weather conditions.

Belle Isle:  The State of Michigan requires a Recreation Passport for vehicles entering Belle Isle Park.

Other Opportunities To Demo:

Private Demos: For $35 you can paddle up to 3 kayaks.  Private demos must be prearranged and are weather dependent.  The $35 fee can be applied to a kayak purchase within the same year.

Port Austin Kayak Symposium:  For PAKS participants the opportunity to demo is included with registration.  If you would like to demo kayaks and you are not attending the symposium there is a $25 fee.  The demo kayaks will mostly be sea kayaks and a list will be available closer to PAKS.

Paddle Palooza at Ohio’s Maumee Bay State Park Inland Lake:  RKC will be attending the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Paddle Palooza on Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  RKC will have a selection of kayaks for participants to demo.  This event is free and additional information will be posted when available.
